At Mecosta Habitat, we believe that every veteran deserves to be welcomed home to a place of peace, stability, and community. Our Veterans Program works to empower all veterans through homeownership opportunities and home repairs. Together we can give veterans the opportunity they need to build strong and stable lives.
Home Ownership
Home ownership starts with our Counseling Services:
There are no requirements for program participation - all Michigan residents are welcome to engage in the financial and housing education programs we offer. These programs and services include:
Financial Management and Budget Individual Counseling and Group Education
Pre-Purchase Home Buyer Group Education and Individual Counseling
Post-Purchase Services including Default Avoidance, Home Improvement, and Non-Delinquent Services
Fair Housing, Predatory Lending Avoidance, Rental Housing and Homelessness Services, Referrals, and Information
Connections with local lenders and Habitat for Humanity offices for consumers who wish to pursue homeownership opportunities
Home repairs
We partner with veteran homeowners to repair their homes in need of critical repairs that may be too costly or physically challenging. Every veteran deserves to spend their lives in a safe, stable, and a healthy home. Repairs may include plumbing, electrical, insulation, roofing, bathroom and doorway renovations and ramps to accommodate veterans with a disability.
